The Craft Room

Hi all,

Sorry i havent been here for a wehile, ive been busy with this and that.... partly turning our spare room into a craft room just for me! yey!

There is still a bit left to finish- a unit to go up on the wall, and a sofa bed to put in too... but here's the progress so far...

And my first sewing project in my craft room..... a make up bag with lining... im practicing this so i can have a go at making a bag- thought id better get the lining process right first!!

Just basic- but heres the lining- woo hoo, lol!

Happy Birthday to meeee!!

I wanted to share with you the gorgeous gifts I recieved for my birthday yesterday....

My other half bought me a limited edition bottle of John Paul Gaultier 'Classique'... a lovely smell!

My daughter (with a few hints to her daddy) got me 2 Cath Kidston mugs

And from the money from my folks i bought some commisioned bracelets i love them!!!

Here are my favourite costume jewellery bracelets that i wanted to replace with silver ones (they were looking a bit dull and tarnished).....

And thanks to a seller on ebay (krhandmadejewellery) who had the above picture as a guide, made me two gorgeous new ones- and one of his own style with a heart charm that i loved too!

So that's it- lucky me! Along wity some flowers, a plant and a box of chocolates... i've had a fab day!!

And with a meal out and a glass or two of wine- what more can a girl ask for?

A new challenge...

Today I had a little mooch round the charity shops- which i do every couple of weeks- i love lookig for something a bit unusual, and love the idea of not having the height of fashion stuff, that has been pre loved!

I found a lovely denim skirt- unfortunately not in my size! I was about to ut it back, when i thought- i would love to make something from that material- its so nice!

Here is the skirt- it has a printed pattern on the material....

So, what shall i make? I'm thinking maybe a bag of some sort... but im going to have to think hard because i'd hate to spoil it!

Summer holidays....

Just a quick post to let you know how the holiday went... 4 days at Butlins in Skegness.

The resort was fab for the kids, the weather was rainy, but the highlight of the week was when my 3 year old daughter was starstruck after seeing a Barney show... she waved at him and shouted his name, and he waved back!! She still hasn't got over it!!

We had lots of fun in the swimming pool, on the beach, on the fairground... and of course my 13 year old step daughter loved the slot machines!

Ive just recieved the Cath Kidston magazine, and found a washbag not too dissimilar to mine, lol.

While i'm here i'll let you know whats on my wish list...

This bag may be inspiration for a future sewing project, along with the purse below??!

All prepared....

Today I have had my nails done in preperation for the holiday next week... that means i won't be on here for  a while :(

Here are my sparkly nails- they dont show up very well on the camera, but they are basically white glitter- very sparkly!

I have also given my great patternb idea a go- A toiletry bag with good old pink spotty lining- great for all those spills! It hasnt turned out very well mind- i didnt seem to get the corners matched up right, and sewing on oilcloth was an absolute nightmare!! Never again! This one is definately a one off!!

Good job i love the fabric so much eh?
