It's a Boy!!

Ok, ok don't get too excited...... iv'e been making bunting for my friends little boy's nursery.. it turned out quite well. Amelia has put a request in for some in her room... prefferably in pink she said!

And i didn't stop there... i couldnt resist making a matching cushion- awwww- makes me all broody!!

The Craft Room

Hi all,

Sorry i havent been here for a wehile, ive been busy with this and that.... partly turning our spare room into a craft room just for me! yey!

There is still a bit left to finish- a unit to go up on the wall, and a sofa bed to put in too... but here's the progress so far...

And my first sewing project in my craft room..... a make up bag with lining... im practicing this so i can have a go at making a bag- thought id better get the lining process right first!!

Just basic- but heres the lining- woo hoo, lol!

Happy Birthday to meeee!!

I wanted to share with you the gorgeous gifts I recieved for my birthday yesterday....

My other half bought me a limited edition bottle of John Paul Gaultier 'Classique'... a lovely smell!

My daughter (with a few hints to her daddy) got me 2 Cath Kidston mugs

And from the money from my folks i bought some commisioned bracelets i love them!!!

Here are my favourite costume jewellery bracelets that i wanted to replace with silver ones (they were looking a bit dull and tarnished).....

And thanks to a seller on ebay (krhandmadejewellery) who had the above picture as a guide, made me two gorgeous new ones- and one of his own style with a heart charm that i loved too!

So that's it- lucky me! Along wity some flowers, a plant and a box of chocolates... i've had a fab day!!

And with a meal out and a glass or two of wine- what more can a girl ask for?

A new challenge...

Today I had a little mooch round the charity shops- which i do every couple of weeks- i love lookig for something a bit unusual, and love the idea of not having the height of fashion stuff, that has been pre loved!

I found a lovely denim skirt- unfortunately not in my size! I was about to ut it back, when i thought- i would love to make something from that material- its so nice!

Here is the skirt- it has a printed pattern on the material....

So, what shall i make? I'm thinking maybe a bag of some sort... but im going to have to think hard because i'd hate to spoil it!

Summer holidays....

Just a quick post to let you know how the holiday went... 4 days at Butlins in Skegness.

The resort was fab for the kids, the weather was rainy, but the highlight of the week was when my 3 year old daughter was starstruck after seeing a Barney show... she waved at him and shouted his name, and he waved back!! She still hasn't got over it!!

We had lots of fun in the swimming pool, on the beach, on the fairground... and of course my 13 year old step daughter loved the slot machines!

Ive just recieved the Cath Kidston magazine, and found a washbag not too dissimilar to mine, lol.

All prepared....

Today I have had my nails done in preperation for the holiday next week... that means i won't be on here for  a while :(

Here are my sparkly nails- they dont show up very well on the camera, but they are basically white glitter- very sparkly!

I have also given my great patternb idea a go- A toiletry bag with good old pink spotty lining- great for all those spills! It hasnt turned out very well mind- i didnt seem to get the corners matched up right, and sewing on oilcloth was an absolute nightmare!! Never again! This one is definately a one off!!

Good job i love the fabric so much eh?

I'm on a roll!!

I decided to try a few new things with the fabric tonight- to practice some sewing techniques:

 making a purse with lining

double stitching a seam

making a fabric pull tab

And here is how i got on- in true CK style!!

A kind of coin purse- but i guess it is big enough for an ipod, or a small camera.

And the lining in its full glory!! Im not sure if i like the outside best or the inside, hehe.

Im getting ideas for the next project now- watch this space!!

New addition...

Here is the new addition to the toiletry bag family.... make up bag's big sister, lol.

My Creative Afternoon!

Well, i decided to have a bit of a crafty afternoon, as im felling a bit better.... i popped back to Dunelm Mill to get some zips, and couldnt resist the oilcloth like i got earlier- but in pink!! shhhh...it was full price, so i only got a bit!!

Here is the result- a small make up purse for my bag- im actually going to keep my medication in it, as i dont have much make up!!

Not bad for a first attempt- i even managed without a zipper foot on my sewing machine, because i couldnt work out how to use it! That will be googled later!

Hope you like it- especially those Cath Kidston fans out there, lol!

My latest shopping trip...

I neipped out for an hour this morning, just to get some fresh air- oh boy, what a mistake!! I thought i would go to my favourite shop Dunelm Mill!!


I love that place!!!


Here is what i bought...

Those cute scissors- i am going to keep them just for my crafts- aren't they gorgeous??

I love anything Cath Kidstonesque- and blue polka dots are just the ticket!

The gorgoeus purple kitchen scales- they are fairly small, and are gorgeous purple shiny glass!

The two little charms with keys on- they were just too cute to leave behind- im thinking of making a bag charm with them, or maybe just attaching them to the zips on my bags? Im not sure yet.

The lovely butterfly vellum paper was a gift from my friend- Thanks Becka xx... i love anything with butterflies on... this will make some lovely filofax dividers- yey!! What a lovely surprise to come home to this morning!

I also got some oilcloth in sage green with white spots on (again reminding me of CK)- it was a bargain! £1.50 for 0.7meters... im going to try and make a purse, and toiletry bag with it-

I will take this opportunity to show you my new bag- which my OH is getting me for my birthday!! I am a fan of small bags- but couldnt resist this one!! Again its purple,

 but a gorgeous shape and holds loads!!! Great for the holiday.

Day one of the gym

This will be a short post.... just an update!!

Today was my first day at the gym.... so i was basically shown the equipment- all a bit confusing for me, but i think i'll get the hang of it! Luckily for me the place wasn't full of hunky guys- just normal folk- phew!

The personal trainer was lovely- started me off slow, and said i was a natural- she couldn't believe i had never been to a gym before! Anyway, she explained my routine, so next time i am in, i will gve it a good shot!!

It wasnt as bad as i thought- even with gloopy ears, so im sure i will enjoy it hen im better!

Filofax heaven....

Im here on my second day of pain and boredom, so i thought i would let you have a nosey inside my filofax!!

(If you are not interested in Filofaxes- STOP reading now!!- this is a long blog!)

I have always used an A5 diary at work, but this year (academic) i couldnt find a diary i liked- i ended up just getting a cheap one, which was no good at all- very cheap paper and poorly printed! I usually have bits of paper shoved in my diary - usually held in with elastic bands, which eventually looks a right mess.

Anyway, one of my collegues was leaving and i was given the job of buying her a present... i had remembered having the diary conversation with her, so thought she might like something more professional- a filofax!!!

I looked at what was available in my price range, and found her a gorgeous one that fit the bill nicely!

After a couple of days, i started thinking- i wish i'd have got one for myself!! And as i had no time to go to town, found one on ebay just the same- bingo!! Here it is..... my Ultra-Violet Personal Domino Filofax!

It is slightly smaller than an A5 diary, but more compact! The A5 filofaxes were just a bit too big and bulky for me to carry around all the time, and this suits me fine!

Here is the inside of it....

Inside the front cover is a couple of slots with my gym card, nectar vouchers and bits of spare paper.

 Diary

I took out all the info pages that came with the diary, because i dont use them, and would rather have the extra space.

I have firstly a week to view page with my work rota on it.

 A week on 2 pages for every day stuff- appointments etc.

 A month on 2 pages for my partners shift patterns and childcare.

 Contacts

I took out the A-Z contact lists because i find them hard to use, and would rather have all my numbers on one page.

 I have 3 pages- one for Work, Personal and Useful- tradesmaen etc.

 Dates

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra"

 This section isnt for what you might think! Its those important dates that i tend to forget- MOT, Birthdays etc.

 Notes

"Scatter kindness"

I had some small sticky notes that i stuck to this divider- its laminated, so works wonderfully!

 In here i have online savings, general notes, and spare note paper.

 Ideas

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"

 In this section i put anything that comes to mind- blog ideas, craft ideas and anything else!!

 Next i have a few free dividers that i will fill up when i need- one is going to be for gym stuff- i have just put a class timetable in there!

 To Do

"The way i see it, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain"

 I use the filofax to do sheets- keeps me very organised!

 Lists

"Happiness is the best face lift"

 In here i have 30 days of lists- that i do if i have a quiet moment- makes me reflect on what i like and dont like, and is quite fun!

 Other

"Paint your dreams in bright colours and bold stripes!

 In here i have 3 plastic envelopes, with bits and bobs in- bills, stickers etc. I also have a zip pocket for receipts, and a few bits of paper clipped in that are important for work.

At the back is a pocket with a few more bits of work info, and a gorgeous purple Pilot frixion pen!
