Summer holidays....

Just a quick post to let you know how the holiday went... 4 days at Butlins in Skegness.

The resort was fab for the kids, the weather was rainy, but the highlight of the week was when my 3 year old daughter was starstruck after seeing a Barney show... she waved at him and shouted his name, and he waved back!! She still hasn't got over it!!

We had lots of fun in the swimming pool, on the beach, on the fairground... and of course my 13 year old step daughter loved the slot machines!

Here's a few of pics to sum up the week...

Ive just recieved the Cath Kidston magazine, and found a washbag not too dissimilar to mine, lol.

While i'm here i'll let you know whats on my wish list...

This bag may be inspiration for a future sewing project, along with the purse below??!

All prepared....

Today I have had my nails done in preperation for the holiday next week... that means i won't be on here for  a while :(

Here are my sparkly nails- they dont show up very well on the camera, but they are basically white glitter- very sparkly!

I have also given my great patternb idea a go- A toiletry bag with good old pink spotty lining- great for all those spills! It hasnt turned out very well mind- i didnt seem to get the corners matched up right, and sewing on oilcloth was an absolute nightmare!! Never again! This one is definately a one off!!

Good job i love the fabric so much eh?

Have a good weekend, Sharry xx

I'm on a roll!!

I decided to try a few new things with the fabric tonight- to practice some sewing techniques:

 making a purse with lining
double stitching a seam
making a fabric pull tab

And here is how i got on- in true CK style!!

A kind of coin purse- but i guess it is big enough for an ipod, or a small camera.

A sneak peek into the Cath Kidston green paisly lining....

The lining here with a view of the fabric pull tab....

And the lining in its full glory!! Im not sure if i like the outside best or the inside, hehe.

Im getting ideas for the next project now- watch this space!!

My Creative Afternoon!

Well, i decided to have a bit of a crafty afternoon, as im felling a bit better.... i popped back to Dunelm Mill to get some zips, and couldnt resist the oilcloth like i got earlier- but in pink!! was full price, so i only got a bit!!

Here is the result- a small make up purse for my bag- im actually going to keep my medication in it, as i dont have much make up!!

Not bad for a first attempt- i even managed without a zipper foot on my sewing machine, because i couldnt work out how to use it! That will be googled later!

Hope you like it- especially those Cath Kidston fans out there, lol!
(if you are a fan check this link out )

Happy Days, Sharry xx

My latest shopping trip...

I neipped out for an hour this morning, just to get some fresh air- oh boy, what a mistake!! I thought i would go to my favourite shop Dunelm Mill!!

I love that place!!!

Here is what i bought...

Those cute scissors- i am going to keep them just for my crafts- aren't they gorgeous??
I love anything Cath Kidstonesque- and blue polka dots are just the ticket!

The gorgoeus purple kitchen scales- they are fairly small, and are gorgeous purple shiny glass!

The two little charms with keys on- they were just too cute to leave behind- im thinking of making a bag charm with them, or maybe just attaching them to the zips on my bags? Im not sure yet.

The lovely butterfly vellum paper was a gift from my friend- Thanks Becka xx... i love anything with butterflies on... this will make some lovely filofax dividers- yey!! What a lovely surprise to come home to this morning!

I also got some oilcloth in sage green with white spots on (again reminding me of CK)- it was a bargain! £1.50 for 0.7meters... im going to try and make a purse, and toiletry bag with it-
wish me luck!

I will take this opportunity to show you my new bag- which my OH is getting me for my birthday!! I am a fan of small bags- but couldnt resist this one!! Again its purple,
but a gorgeous shape and holds loads!!! Great for the holiday.

(sorry i have no idea how to rotate this pic)

Anyway, happy days, Sharry xx

Day one of the gym

This will be a short post.... just an update!!

Today was my first day at the gym.... so i was basically shown the equipment- all a bit confusing for me, but i think i'll get the hang of it! Luckily for me the place wasn't full of hunky guys- just normal folk- phew!

The personal trainer was lovely- started me off slow, and said i was a natural- she couldn't believe i had never been to a gym before! Anyway, she explained my routine, so next time i am in, i will gve it a good shot!!

It wasnt as bad as i thought- even with gloopy ears, so im sure i will enjoy it hen im better!

Happy days xx

Filofax heaven....

Im here on my second day of pain and boredom, so i thought i would let you have a nosey inside my filofax!!
(If you are not interested in Filofaxes- STOP reading now!!- this is a long blog!)

I have always used an A5 diary at work, but this year (academic) i couldnt find a diary i liked- i ended up just getting a cheap one, which was no good at all- very cheap paper and poorly printed! I usually have bits of paper shoved in my diary - usually held in with elastic bands, which eventually looks a right mess.
Anyway, one of my collegues was leaving and i was given the job of buying her a present... i had remembered having the diary conversation with her, so thought she might like something more professional- a filofax!!!

I looked at what was available in my price range, and found her a gorgeous one that fit the bill nicely!

After a couple of days, i started thinking- i wish i'd have got one for myself!! And as i had no time to go to town, found one on ebay just the same- bingo!! Here it is..... my Ultra-Violet Personal Domino Filofax!

It is slightly smaller than an A5 diary, but more compact! The A5 filofaxes were just a bit too big and bulky for me to carry around all the time, and this suits me fine!

Here is the inside of it....
Inside the front cover is a couple of slots with my gym card, nectar vouchers and bits of spare paper.
"Life is precious- make every moment count!"
This section has my personal details, website passwords, and cute pics of my family.

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending"
I took out all the info pages that came with the diary, because i dont use them, and would rather have the extra space.
I have firstly a week to view page with my work rota on it.
A week on 2 pages for every day stuff- appointments etc.
A month on 2 pages for my partners shift patterns and childcare.
"The only way to have a true friend is to be one!"
I took out the A-Z contact lists because i find them hard to use, and would rather have all my numbers on one page.
I have 3 pages- one for Work, Personal and Useful- tradesmaen etc.
"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra"
This section isnt for what you might think! Its those important dates that i tend to forget- MOT, Birthdays etc.
"Scatter kindness"
I had some small sticky notes that i stuck to this divider- its laminated, so works wonderfully!
In here i have online savings, general notes, and spare note paper.
"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"
In this section i put anything that comes to mind- blog ideas, craft ideas and anything else!!
Next i have a few free dividers that i will fill up when i need- one is going to be for gym stuff- i have just put a class timetable in there!
 To Do
"The way i see it, if you want the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain"
I use the filofax to do sheets- keeps me very organised!
"Happiness is the best face lift"
In here i have 30 days of lists- that i do if i have a quiet moment- makes me reflect on what i like and dont like, and is quite fun!
"Paint your dreams in bright colours and bold stripes!
In here i have 3 plastic envelopes, with bits and bobs in- bills, stickers etc. I also have a zip pocket for receipts, and a few bits of paper clipped in that are important for work.
At the back is a pocket with a few more bits of work info, and a gorgeous purple Pilot frixion pen!

I hope you like my set up of my filofax- im sure ill be adding to it very soon! Come back in a while and see the changes.

Happy days! Sharry x

My handbag....

Well, with the sheer boredom of being off work ill.. i decided to do a post about my handbag. I have seen other people do this where they tell you the contents of their bags- which i find quite interesting, lol....

So here it is- my bag... i love it because of its colour, and the fact it is so small, yet it seems to expand forever- i can squeeze my filofax in there and also a small bottle of water if i wish- not many people have small handbags that can do that eh?? My bag was a find at a charity shop- pre loved, but that makes it more special to me!

As for the contents i have these things in my bag....

From top left clockwise:

Medication of varying types- A huge box of paracetamol for the earache!

My keys with a lovely picture of my daughter.

One of those fold away bags- i got this from a pound shop- its cute- has a little girl pic on it, and folds up sooo small!

My Cath Kidston-esque purse- i love it- i just wish i could afford the real thing!

A pretty tin with those monthly essentials in!

Carmex lip balm- i love this stuff... its the best lip balm i have ever had! and so much better than the stuff you have to stick your fingers in- eugh!

My work badge

And finally... my filofax- yes it does fit in!!!

Not too much stuff in there, but as i dont really wear make up- i dont need a bag full of it!

Hope you enjoyed being nosey, lol- now let me know whats in yours!! xx

The joys of the gym!

Hi Folks,

Today i am in terrible pain- i have earache in both ears- arrgghh!! Its driving me mad- hopefully the antibiotics form the docs will kick in soon.

Even in my pain i dragged myself to the gym this evening!! Lol- its not what you think... Ive been put on this active health programme to help with some of my medical conditions, and i had to go for a meeting to discuss it all.

The upshot is- i have to go next Monday to be shown th gym equipment- this is all scary stuff for me! I'll no doubt let you know the progress along the way....

Hopefully they can instill some motivation into me.. i wish there was a pill for that!

Yankeeee Candles!!

Wel, i thought i would let you into my world.. and my loves!

One of these is yankee candles! Theres nothing as relaxing as seeing a flame flickering in a pretty holder (mine is from Laura Ashley), and smelling a devine perfume!

Here are some of the candles i have collected so far- i used to have the jars, but got sick of waiting for them to end so i could try a new fragrance- for those of you who know yankee- there are hundreds!
My favourites are fragrances that are floral, fresh, or seaside. I'm not so keen on the foods or fruits.

And here is the holder- i must admit it looks better at night!!

My favourite fragrance for this season is Beach Walk... floral and fresh- like summer days!!

Have a great day......xx

Motivational stuff!

I have been customising my beloved friend- Filo ( my filofax to those who dont know, lol).
I have made some cheerful dividers, and spent some time finding some nice quotes to put on them, so that when i have an off day i can have a flick through, and hopefully they will cheer me up!!

Here they are:

"Life is precious- lets make every moment count!"

"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, But everyone can start today and make a new ending."

"The only way to have a tru friend is to be one"

"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra."

"Scatter Kindness"

"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"

"The way i see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain."

"Happiness is the best face lift."

"Paint your dreams in bright colours and bold stripes"

Hope some of these made you smile!!! Post any others you like below- i have some mored dividers that need quotes!!
